Flowers are so pretty when they dry. We had these in a pretty little crystal vase and they have grown more and more beautiful every day.

So magical and dreamlike are these flowers. They remind us of the lovely delicate Magically Simple skirt and dress. So soft and elegant, like that calming feeling you get at dusk, with afternoon light softly pouring through windows, the breeze ruffling your curtains.

The amazing creative team at Sportsgirl put together their 'Dream a Little Dream' instore mag issue which featured the Miss Unkon collaboration and the Two Kinds of Love Maxi dress.

It was such a fun and creative shot with the amazing talented team Michelle Jank stylist & Georges Antoni who captured the lovely Bridget.

Yes this is quite a few bucket loads of pink milk being creatively thrown onto the amazing Bridget.

Being in fashion world there is always some deadline or project going on that we can get so immersed in our heads thinking and creating that we just sometimes need to get out of the office and take a look at the world around us..

On the weekend we took a little drive, it was a beautiful day, cloudy grey skies which I love as it makes you feel cosy and the trees greener.

Took some snaps of this little secluded sactuary which is so near the city. It was quite silent too, no traffic or airoplane sounds, ahh lovely peacefulness.

So girls...have we got some exciting news. Miss Unkon head office is moving! Yes moving into a bigger new Miss Unkon land. It is the most yummy old warehouse. It's big, white with battered wooden floorboards and has lots of space for us to decorate, draw and make into a aheartful place to create from.

There is going to be a studio and we hope to invite and have special little collaboration projects happening all the time.
So we are looking for your ideas, tips, places to find super beautiful furnishings that will turn this space into an inspirring place.

Today's post is to show you a little bit of the creative side that is developed around the idea of each Miss Unkon collection. Here are the images from the recent Miss Unkon RAFW show, Girls With Kaleidoscope Minds.

This collection was inspired by the magic of imagination and that part of a girl that has that deeper creativity, sometimes hidden, where she is quite free to express her emotional essence of herself. It is inspired by the love of art and how in our minds we create this world that is so real and beautiful. This is the world of our dreams, passions, desires – the magic of imagination.

Each image was taken of the beautiful Chic Models that represented Miss Unkon at the recent RAFW show. each girl has her own beautiful passion to fulfill. Then a handdrawn illustration was created to express the world we create with our imagination.

These images were then projected onto the stages giant spheres that suspended the catwalk.

It's so lovely to combine the passion of fashion and illustration.

Let us take a moment to share with you the amazing love and care of friends. Leading up to fashion week this year, as always it is such an exciting time with many new projects and little details to be done. We are also really prone to come up with ideas we love when hmmm, we have limited time.

In a moment of styling excitement we got so excited to create friendship bracelets as they were a perfect match to go with the theme of 'Girls with Kaleidoscope Minds' a story about a girl that is kind, creative and likes to make little drawings and friendship bracelets in her moments of time. So amoungst all this idea we set about at the Miss Unkon office remembering times of early teen years making those friendship bracelets. We got out the books & searched the internet & began to create. Our first few were 'interesting' but once we got the hang of it we started experimenting and we had so much fun choosing colours and ooh and ahhing over each others finished friendship bracelets.

With limited time before the show, our dear friends all came over and the space took over into teen craft heaven, committedly working to create around 100 friendship bracelets.

We love fashion week. I love how it brings together friends & supporters of Miss Unkon together to create and be part of something that is quite magical. thank you dear friends for being here throughout the journey, always willing to do whatever it takes for Miss Unkon to be the vision we set out to create. To showing the true love you have to make dreams come true. You truely make this time very special and amazing, we will treasure it forever.

so we want to share with you our obsession with knits. yes the Miss Unkon knits have recently dropped into stores. These knits are so cosy. Let us take you on a journey of the story of these knits.

When we were designing the When We Grow Up, we really wanted to creat ea knit that was so cosy, comfy and stylish that a Miss Unkon girl could make any of her outfits instantly have a textured and loving feel to her day and a little bit of instant yumminess.

So ta-da enter Miss Unkon knits. Every single one of these knits are hand knitted by these little ladies & they knit super fast to create these in a day. wow! they are so soft and we feel they have lots of characteristics that make it feel very loved, treasured and a little bit special.

I know it is just that little bit warm here at the moment to think about it, but how exciting is it to start daydreaming of snuggling up together in CHUNKY knits, warm cosy fireplaces, dark mulberry lippy with soft sheer blouses…...oooh so that's a little bit of a peek into the next Miss Unkon collection and story, WHEN WE GROW UP.

We are inspired by the mystical storytelling tale of Fever Ray. Take a little time out and listen. It' s beautiful.

have you ever heard the phrase, "sometimes I wish I was a girl living in a sofia coppola film".

Saw Somewhere, the new and beautiful intriguing film by Sofia Coppola last night.

We love! And we love how Sofia captures an observational feel in her films. Somewhere beautifully depicts the mood and feelings of the characters and captures those everyday childhood moments like holding your breath as you swim from one length of the pool to the other and practise handstands. Love the film making, love the set and elle fanning- such a waif like innocent beauty...we are looking forward to seeing it again and again.

it has been one of the most exciting years for all of us here at Miss Unkon and we are super super excited for what lies ahead in 2011. so to recap, some of the things we created, loved in 2010.

we showed a pretty individual show at RAFW with a pretty cute theme telling a fairytale story
many amazing stores now feature Miss Unkon all over Australia
we launched in New York, singapore and malaysia
some of our favourite blogs featured miss unkon in their pretty posts like knight Kat
we welcomed miss beatuiful Daisy to the Miss Unkon world who is the cutest kitty in the world.
we got a pink bike
we fell in love with mac blankety and dark side lippy
we opened a miss unkon pop up shoppe in the sparkling new sydney pitt st Westfield
we became obsessed with daisy flowers, round sunglasses, dreams and love and all things that made us feel like we were living in a 70's photograph
we discovered the diana f....ummm why hadn't we got our hands on this before
dreams came true

in 2011 more exciting adventures are happening some things to look forward to & we want you to be part of the journey

hello there. It's been awhile.....forever in fact since we said hello.
hello girls.

Fun times have been had here at Miss Unkon. The sydney Miss Unkon pop up shoppe has been opened for over a month now. It is so lovely to see so many lovely girls become Miss Unkon girls as they find their perfect outfit.

the so long farewell, wherever it leads dress, hello cupcake have been some of the favourites.

today we saw the prettiest sky as the afternoon dusk set in after a little storm flew by. Makes you remember to take a breath and see the beauty of nature.

Yesterday whilst walking by the pretty beach, the sun was warmly shining and there was a soft salt breeze in the air, we spotted these absolutely pretty chalk drawings on the pavement, no doubt created by some talented little children that will grow up to be amazing artists.

When Miss Unkon’s latest collection took to the catwalk at the recent RAFW it was clear from the get go that designer Courtney Meyer dreams big.

Following a week of mainly minimalist catwalks (Romance Was Born and Ellery being the exceptions) minimal styling and a deluge of draping and leather in all its forms, Miss Unkon’s bevy of Lolitas proved a refreshing surprise. Sure the twirling models and cotton candy dresses might not be everyone’s cup of cammomile tea, but there is no denying that the Brisbane-born now Sydney-based designer isn’t afraid to stand out amongst the simple and sleek fashion elite.

It’s her signature fearlessness and true-to-self vision that helped the label score a glossy book deal, as sponsored by the online self-publishing platform Blurb. The Love Is Like A Dreamland book is an extension of the label's spring summer 2010/11 collection and features editorial photography of new season garments amongst interviews with a range of subjects.

The Miss Unkon team including Courtney, her partner and resident photographer Nelson Lai and the makeup artist responsible for the complementing body art Becca Gilmartin are all featured amongst the shiny pages. I was also honored to take part in the book alongside a range of young Australian creatives including illustrator Caitlin Shearer, blogger Christina Dietze of src783 and fellow contributor to TheVine Hayley Hughes.

But the real star of the book is the whimsical and dreamlike imagery. Since the label's inception, each collection for Miss Unkon has encapsulated a strong narrative surrounding childlike themes, ranging from a German fairytale to the personal story of her late grandmother. The Love Is Like A Dreamland book is no different, taking you on a journey of modern day romance and femininity.

Doubling as a clever marketing tool and a treasured keepsake, I can’t help but wonder if the current trend for designers launching videos with their collections may soon be replaced for the tangible paper pages of an old fashioned book.

Love Is Like A Dreamland is available to purchase on Blurb. All profits will be donated to the Amira Project, a charity dedicated to impacting the quality of young women's lives in local communities.
